Back From Cambodia...
I am back from cambodia! :) It is nice to be back home where everything is available. Where the air is clean, the streets are litter free, etc. But the only difference that cambodia has over singapore, wld be it's slow pace of life and the hospitality of the pple.
I have been so blessed by the villagers who give up their sleeping space for us. Choosing to give us the better "bed" to sleep on, rather than keeping it for themselves. How many of us will give up our beds to let a guest who didn't bathe, to sleep on our bed, n hv ourselves sleep on the floor? I don't think many of us will do tt. But such ws the hospitality of the cambodians. The children are simply adorable. They are so innovative and are so ever willing to try out new things. Here in singapore, our children are wanting more toys and games. They juz play with the things tt they have and make do with it.
But i am still thankful to God for allowing me to be borned in s'pore.Because back here there is stability and security. I mean, we don't have to worry abt the govenment, don't have to worry abt not being able to continue our studies, don't have to worry so much abt money and etc.
Now at the end of the whole mission trip, i think the greatest lesson i have learnt is to be listening 1st b4 i answer. coz many a times what i have to say might not be constructive and tt in turn may cause more problems and conflicts in the team.
Being able to go for this trip, i see it as a prophercy tt is being fulfilled partially. It was abt 2 yrs ago, at a time when i juz finished my 1st sem in nursing, tt i was doubting tt nursing was the place tt God wanted me to be in. Then 1 night, at a house gp mtg at jc's place, God used pastor S.D.F to speak to me. He reassured me tt this (meaning nursing) is where Gos wanted me to be in, and the next 2 yrs will be a time of preperation. He also said tt this skill tt i will aquire, will be a useful tool. He also mentioned tt in future i will be going to nearby countires (meaning S.E.A) to do his work. And i do agree tt it took 2 yrs to prepare me to be ready for what is to come. I don't think tt if God called me there and then to go into the mission field, tt i wld be ready for it. And each and everytime when an opportunity arises for a mission team to go, tt God will close the door shut with things tt i cannot not do (aka attachments). But now, having finished my dip n being fully qualified as a RN, i went in with all the experience and knowledge tt i gained in the 3yrs in nursing. I don't see myself as an expert in nursing, but tt was all i had to offer to cambodia.
Overall, i got to see and experience a glimpse of what it is like to be a missionary. And the vital 2 things tt brought the missionaries over there through the tough time are PRAYER and FAITH. w/o these 2 things, i don't think tt COSI and the EMMAUS shelter will be standing now.
The last thing tt i want to leave with you is....how are you allowing God to use u in transforming the lives ard u?
What we want to leave behind is a spiritual legacy, tt our children/disciple can model after.
